British Columbia Math Contests (BCC)

British Columbia High School Math Contest was originally established in 1973—under the name Cariboo College High School Mathematics Contest—to promote the study and enjoyment of mathematics in provincial schools. In 1994, University College of the Cariboo and two other British Columbia colleges that offered regional math contests joined forces to form the contest as it is known today.

The contest challenges students with problems from algebra, geometry, number theory, trigonometry, and calculus. After the junior and senior preliminary rounds, students advance to the final rounds for their respective classes. Preliminary rounds are composed of multiple-choice problems. Final rounds contain both multiple-choice and free-response items.

The BCC database module features over 1,390 problems—of which about 270 are free-response—and 310 diagrams from previous BC math contests. Although the contest is limited to students in British Columbia, teachers throughout North America will appreciate the attention to detail and extra effort on the part of problem-writers.
