Mid-level Math Assessment (MMA)
Mid-level Math Assessment complements EducAide's core modules (Pre-Algebra and Algebra I) with 5000 multiple-choice problems suitable for quizzes, tests, final exams, and school- and district-wide assessments. The module also contains about 1,500 multiple-choice problems for geometry, which means it can be used in nearly every math class in grades 6–10.
Here is a list of the major topics covered in the MMA database:
- Basic arithmetic
- Real number system
- Measurement
- Data analysis
- Percents, ratios, proportions
- Statistics and probability
- Rational and radical expressions
- Analytical geometry
- Deductive geometry
Each problem in the MMA database is paired with another problem that is identical in concept, appearance, and level of difficulty. This organization, combined with Acces' multiple-choice scrambling feature, makes it possible to create multiple versions—and practically a limitless number—of tests and quizzes.
Acces' many multiple-choice options greatly increase the flexibility and usefulness of the MMA database. In addition to the scrambling feature mentioned above, choices can be labeled and arranged in a variety of different ways. You can also hide choices for particular problems, so that they become free-response. If you like, Acces will even insert the choice "None of the above" (and randomly discard another choice), to discourage students from merely guessing.
The MMA database was principally authored by Gale Bach, former Palo Alto (CA) High School math teacher and current math teacher at Healdsburg (CA) High School, and longtime user of Acces.
