New York Math Grades 7, 8, Math A (NYM)
In 1999 the State of New York adopted a new assessment system designed to phase-out the Course I, II, and III Regents Mathematics exams and replace them with new exams. Prior to 1998, students who passed the rigorous Regents examinations earned special diplomas. Students must pass the new exams - designed to measure grade level competency - in order to graduate. By 2003, students will have to pass five regents examinations in order to graduate High School.
The first of these new exams, Regents Mathematics A was administered in June, 1999. The test covers topics in algebra, geometry, basic probability and statistics, logic, and trigonometry. It includes multiple choice, and both short and long answer questions.
EducAide is pleased to announce a new module that addresses the Performance indicators for Grades 7 and 8 as well as the Math A exam. The module will include approximately 3200 questions covering all of the objectives for each performance indicator. We expect to release the module in February, 2002. The variety and depth of problems is sure to be useful for educators in and out of New York.
