When saving an Acces document, user-created content (such as user-created images or user-edited passages) is not saved with the document. The document will open fine on the same computer it was created on, but may have "Missing File" errors when opened on another computer.

Exporting a Document Package solves this problem by packaging user-created figures, passages, etc. along with an Acces document. Other Acces users who open a document package will see the document as it was originally created: user-created content and all.

Opening a document package in Acces is similar to opening a file in any desktop application.

  1. Open a document package by using one of the following methods:
    • In the toolbar, click the Open an Acces document button
    • Choose File > Open
    • Use the Ctrl+O keyboard shortcut.
    Choose File > Open to open an Acces document
  2. By default, Acces4 will look for documents in the last location where you opened or saved and Acces document. The first time you open or save a document, Acces4 defaults to My Documents. If your documents are saved somewhere else, navigate to that location using the Look in list.
  3. Choose Packaged Acces4 Documents (*.paxml) from the Files of Type list.
  4. When you locate the document package, select it and click Open.
