This option sets the default number of columns for the entire document. Note that this setting can be overridden for individual Parts by choosing Format > Test/Wksh. Options.
Sets how problems should flow in test/worksheets with multiple columns. Here's how the different settings would affect a document with 3 columns:

Set the number of problems that should be placed on each page of the document. Depending on the problems in your document, setting a high value might result in problems overlapping each other.
Select the auto option to let Acces automatically place the ideal number of problems in each column.
Selecting this option adds extra space after each problem for students to work out their answers.
Selecting this option distributes any leftover workspace evenly among the problems on a column or page. Leaving the option deselected results in all leftover space being added to the end of a column or page.
Select this option to print out any directions associated with the Parts in your document.
